WDO

History

WDO dates as far back as the Spring of 98. During that time frame, RO3's player file was pretty old. A group of players were trying to get to level 50. Three players teamed together when they were all around 20th level. At the time, there were around 7 or 8 players trying to get to 50; they all teamed up together at different times. However, for the most part, these three players stuck together the most. They died a lot. I don't mean a few times. I mean a lot. We are talking 2 to 5 deaths for every level from 1 to 50. Just when they had got their XP back, they would die again. When the group were in the 30s one of them put [WDO] at the end of his title. When one of the other two asked what that meant, the player said "We Die Often, its my new clan." The other player asked "Can we join?" (indicating the third player and himself), and the player responded "Hell, you guys are the President."

Thus WDO was born. The three players continued to play, got to 50 and then continued to die, often. Quasar and Elessar were the leaders of the clan and they didn't take to living cautiously. They continued to test their skills and trying things others would scoff at. Soon, others, like Gullo, had joined up and they continued their quest of getting the best XP and the best EQ in the hardest ways possible. Somehow, the group found ways for members to solo Thranduil, the Balrog, and others. Then, they ended up doing a Lyfantus run with just 4 people.

As time passed, the Clan started growing in knowledge and power to the point that they hardly died often anymore. Yet, when they died, shouts of "WDO!" were heard throughout the mud. The Clan remains unafraid of tackling difficult obstacles and to this day has no fond love of their EQ or their lives.

Founding Members

Quasar: Multiscum. Don/Quasar was a leader of WDO for nearly 2 years before he retired to (hopefully) a good life.

Felonius: Monk. Jake/Felonius/Elessar/Lothar is still leader of WDO after all these years. His knowledge of the mud is vast, and his alter ego of Lothar is probably more popular than his Elessar ego currently. Lothar is famous for his newbie trains, and XP trains in general. One of the best tanks, and most reliable Rangers in the game. When he plays he generally doesn't rely on triggers.

Durin: Dwarven Warrior. Dave/Durin was asked to join the clan for his sheer size and ability to die. At the time, he had 1800 HP (the next largest in clan was Elessar with 1000 HP) and a tendency to fight anything. Dave role plays his dwarf to perfection and its always nice knowing you can trade him some mithril gear for better HnD stuff =)

Lonestar: Cleric. Daryl/Lonestar was one of the biggest clerics for a long time on RO3 before the digink crash of 2000. He keeps coming back and he is generally guaranteed to be one of the most competent clerics you can ask for.

Gullo: Paladin. Steve/Gullo took the WDO name to heart. Always pushing his PC's limits, he is known to solo Thranny and the Balrog. Crazy? Yeah, but thats what all WDO guys have in common. Easily during his prime was the best damn paladin on the mud.

Other Members

Kita: Cleric. Avery/Kita/Morph is in the opinion of this writer the best damn cleric in the game. He doesn't use triggers; he's all reflexes and damn good reflexes. If you want a cleric that is paying attention, he's your guy. As Morph, Avery is one of the best mages in the game too. His knowledge of the mud is outstanding, and he has been playing for ages.

Leareth: Mage. Derek/Leareth is simply one of the best Mages RO has ever had. His knowledge of the mud is only parallelled by the best of the best. His Scorn persona is one of the trickiest Thieves in the game, and he has always been known for his friendliness towards newbies.

Smith: Warrior. Justin/Smith was the biggest tank before the wipe for RO4. Justin's knowledge of the mud grows daily. As a tank, he has been trained by one of RO's greatest, Lothar, and as a caster he has been trained by one of RO's greatest in Morph. Getting better all the time.

Kraft: Monk. David/Kraft/Kaith/Judicandus is one of the longest playing PCs on RO. He was around in the begining, and he keeps coming back. An amazing Tank who is good at pushing the limits of what the code allows.

Rhoan: Psi. Ally/Rhoan/Nightwind/Moonstar began playing on RO2 in 1996, and despite an absence here and there, just keeps coming back.

Tamlyn: Warrior. Dazey/Tamlyn/Blinky/Pinky

Wrath: Druid. Robert/Wrath/Wallace/Avarice

Arech: Warrior. Steve/Arech/Piper/Poko

What WDO looks for in a member

You can't like EQ. You can love getting EQ, but you can't like keeping it. You have to be ready to push the limits of your playing. Every member is willing to learn and try new things no matter how absurd. Knowledge of the mud isn't really necessary but the desire to learn is. Death also has to be your friend. WDO members don't get mad when they die. Even if its not their fault. They brush it off and laugh and go look for more danger. Dying often isn't necessarily a must, but it doesn't hurt.
