Every now and then, a poor family needs some money or food or protection. At the hardest of times when there is no other choice...families have been known to sell their children to one of the many Temples of Delnor. The Temple only takes those younger than 4. In return, the child devotes his life to the disciplinary ways of the Temple, and the families get that which they need. The child is trained to be a Monk of the Temple. Monks have no need for money or items. All a Monk cares about is achieving an inner peace. In searching for this inner peace, the Monks of Delnor have turned to the Martial Arts. Thru inflicting great amounts of pain by hand, the Delnor Monks believe they may one day achieve inner peace...
Unique Skills and Benefits: The Monk is yet another one of the 'Hitter' Classes on RO. The Monk gets exceptional hitpoint gains, but the purchasing of HPs is fairly expensive. Once the Monk reaches 850 hps, he can only buy hitpoints at 350 million xp per buy! The Monk will only wear the Clothes the Temple provides him. He has no need for money or platinum. However, the Monk learns different fighting Styles. Each Style is an improvement on the one before it, and each style costs XP. As the Monk purchases a newer and more powerful Style, he grows in power. Each Style is taught by a different Master, and each Master can be located throughout the world. It is said he who learns from the great Master Sam Seed will be a force to make all foes tremble.
Difficulty Rating: Hard (and tedious). When compared to the Monks of RO3, these new Monks are no where near the hitter at Level 50. However, by the third 'style', the Monk will have started to hit harder. The 13th Style, taught by Sam Seed, will leave the Monk an incredible force that any Tank would be foolish to not use as a hitter on any big loot mob. Due to the fact that the Monk isn't an impressive force until his 7th Style, most Players will likely choose a Class with more noticable benefits that come sooner. However, for the Player who decides to stick it out as a Monk, it can be a very rewarding experience.
Power Kick - The success of a kick depends upon how well you are learned. The higher level you reach the harder you kick. There is one small catch - whenever you kick (or miss), you will be unable to type any command for two rounds of 'Violence' - so be sure that you do not need to flee! Monks are very good at knocking out their opponent. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Dodge - The skill of dodging is a simple one. If someone tries to hit you, you get out of the way while keeping your wits about you; you do not lose attacks or open yourself to more attacks. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Block - The Monk uses his arms, hands, feet, and anything around to help him block attacks. His style can greatly affect this skill. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: Fighting Style
Recouperate - The Monk is able to calm himself and find inner peace. When he does this, he is able to regenerate hitpoints and mana faster than any other class. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: WIS
Disarm - The skill of disarming is simple. You use your weapon or hands to knock the weapon out of the hands of your attacker. Level: 5 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Knockdown - The monk has the ability to knock people off their feet. How the monk knocks someone down depends on his style. Level: 7 - Primary Attribute: Fighting Style
Fly, Waterbreath, True Sight - The monk learns that his mind is more powerful than the 'laws' others seem to believe in. He gains these abilities and they are a passive skill that always remains on. Once he learns it, it is always on. Level: Varies
Doorbash - The art of Doorbashing is the ability to attack a door at its weak spot to knock the door off its hinge. This way someone can get around such silly things as locks. Level: 15 - Primary Attribute: STR
Touch of Enlightenment - The Monk, when he reaches enlightenment, can touch a target and relieve the target of injuries and exhaustion. Level: 30
Iron Will - This skill is the ability to remain alive by sheer force of will when your wounds should be fatal. It goes into effect the moment your hitpoints drop below 0. You will remain alive, until you are healed, or your will fails. Level: 35 - Primary Attribute: CON
Iron Skin - The Monk gains a tougher skin when his spiritual enlightment almost reaches its peak. This helps reduce damage received. Level: 45 - Primary Attribute: CON
Katsuro - The Monk learns to use his hands and feet in a way that won't harm a target's EQ. He does less damage in this mode. Level: 49 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Quivering Palm - This is one of the monks most deadly skills. Once a creature has been worn down in combat, they become susceptable to certain vibrations that the monk is able to generate in their hands. Passing these vibrations on to a weakened creature or person will most certainly kill them. Monk must have learned the Way of the Fearless Hyena fighting Style. Level: 50 - Primary Attribute: WIS
