The Rangers are a finely trained group of Warriors who await to be called by Isildur's Heir to the last great battle against the Evil in the East. While waiting, the Rangers have gone to living in the Wild and protecting the borders of different cities and lands from any dangers without the knowledge of those they protect. Rangers have mastered the art of surviving in nature and these survival skills, when combined with their legendary fighting abilities, makes them a formidable opponent.
Unique Skills and Benefits: Ranger is another one of RO's many 'Hitter' Classes. They get good hitpoint roles per level and purchasing hitpoints is decently priced. They get the third most attacks per round (same as Thieves). The Ranger has many Unique Skills: Stun, Ranger's Critical Strike, BladeMaster, Track, Ration, and Tan Hide.
Difficulty Rating: Easy. RO's second easiest Fighter Class to learn. Stun allows a Ranger to take on much more difficult mobs than his fellow Renegades at lower levels. This ability to take out more powerful mobs allows the Ranger to gain levels fairly quickly. Combined with the second best Hitpoint gains in the game, the Ranger is a relatively easy class that provides a lot of use to EQ groups.
Ration - The Ranger is capable of fending for himself in the wilderness. Part of survival is the ability to create food. The Ranger is adept at creating "Rations" from corpses by using nearby herbs and plants to rid the food of anything toxic. As the Ranger grows more powerful, he is able to create Rations that imbue magical refreshment and healing to whomever eats them. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: INT
Tan Hide - The Ranger is also capable of creating armor out of any corpse. An age old tradition of making skins of dead things into clothing that can be worn. Tanning allows you to make armor out of corpses. The more skilled the tanner, the more powerful armor they can make. Level: 5 - Primary Attribute: WIS
Sneak - The Ranger has gained the ability to move silently. He has used this skill to spy on The Enemy from not just afar, but upclose. The Ranger's ability to move around unnoticed is only surpassable by Thieves. Level: 7 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Stun - The Ranger's mastery of armed combat has taught him the best way to immobilize a target is attacking nerve points in each limb. The Ranger's immense knowledge of not just humans, but most creatures, allows them to adjust their stun depending upon the target. Upon each successful stun, the Ranger eliminates 25% of the target's attacks. In addition, the target loses some concentration in combat so his attacks do less damage with each successful stun. Level: 8 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Doorbash - The art of Doorbashing is the ability to attack a door at its weak spot to knock the door off its hinge. This way someone can get around such silly things as locks. Level: 9 - Primary Attribute: STR
Befriend - The skill of befriending is a skill shared by Rangers and Druids. The Druid is far more capable at the skill, but the Ranger has picked up a less effective version from his long stays in the wild. The user of the skill calls upon their knowledge of the wild to make friends with local wildlife. This friendship is a strong bond, and the befriended creature will fight to the death for its new friend. Level: 10 - Primary Attribute: WIS
Dodge - The skill of dodging is a simple one. If someone tries to hit you, you get out of the way while keeping your wits about you; you do not lose attacks or open yourself to more attacks. Level: 14 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Disarm - The skill of disarming is simple. You use your weapon or hands to knock the weapon out of the hands of your attacker. Level: 20 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Dual Wield - Dual Wield is the ability to use not one, but two weapons at once. Level: 22 - Primary Attribute: STR
Ranger Track - The skill of tracking has been mastered by Rangers. They are capable of tracking anything, anywhere, no matter how absurd. People who witness the Ranger track often wonder if magic is afoot. Level: 25 - Primary Attribute: WIS
Read Magic - This skill allows a character to read magical scrolls. Level: 30 - Primary Attribute: INT
Ranger's Critical Strike - The Ranger's skill at fighting is legendary. When the Ranger gains experience, he becomes able to deliver more powerful Critical Strikes than anyone else from his knowledge of fighting. The Thief also gains this skill, but his Critical Strikes aren't as powerful as the Rangers. This is a passive skill that is always on. Level: 40 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Blademaster - When the Ranger has finally mastered combat, he has become a BladeMaster. The BladeMaster is able to land more criticals than any other class. The skill is passive and is always on. Level: 50 - Primary Attribute: WIS
