From the time when the first races of the world started to settle down and trade among their fledgling villages, there were people who wished to take everything for themselves. These people were the first thieves. Most of these thugs and highwaymen were in fact warriors or rogues. Preferring a combination of the brute force approach and the more subtle ways of stealth, they learned to take what they wanted. Having struck a true balance between the two philosophies of Force and Stealth, the thief is an entertaining Class.
Unique Skills and Benefits: The Thief is one of RO's many 'Hitter' Classes. They get average hitpoint roles per level and purchasing hitpoints is fairly costy. They get the third most attacks per round. The Thief has many unique Skills including Backstab, Thieves' Critical Strike, Hide, Flip, Pick, Poison Weapon, and Fast Talk.
Difficulty Rating: Easy. Perhaps RO's easiest Class to start off with. The Sneak command allows you a fairly safe way to learn the mud. Plus, with Backstab, a Thief can for the most part scrounge up a pretty decent amount of EQ on his own, without the need of a group.
Hide - Hiding is the art of remaining unnoticed WHILE NOT MOVING. When hidden, nearly nothing is capable of noticing you. Moving or fighting will stop you from hiding. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: WIS
Dodge - The skill of dodging is a simple one. If someone tries to hit you, you get out of the way while keeping your wits about you; you do not lose attacks or open yourself to more attacks. Level: 3 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Flip - The thief likes to use quickness in battle and has found the easiest way to knock someone down is to knock their feet out from under them and throw them over their shoulder. Someone who has been knocked down is unable to perform any skills or spells for 2 rounds. Level: 5 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Backstab - Backstabbing is the skill of sneaking up on a person and attempting to place your dagger in their back at exactly the point where it does most damage. A successful backstab gives a damage multiplier, depending on level. Level: 8 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Pick - This skill allows a character to pick locks. Not all locks can be picked and some locks are rumored to have traps! It is rumoured though that a pure thief can pick any lock once they reach a reasonable level of skill and experience! Level: 10 - Primary Attribute: INT
Fast Talk - This skill is the art of using ones silver tongue to talk your way out of a situation, almost always accompanied by a bribe. This skill will only work on humanoid creatures. The thief will automatically attempt to use this skill at the appropriate time. Level: 12 - Primary Attribute: INT
Sneak - The Thief is a master of moving silently. The thief can move anywhere when concentrating properly without detection. Hobbit Thieves are virtually impossible to detect when they don't want to be. Level: 14 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Steal - The thief is able to take any item that is being carried from anyone given the right opportunity. Level: 20 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Disarm - The skill of disarming is simple. You use your weapon or hands to knock the weapon of your attacker out of his hands. Level: 25 - Primary Attribute: DEX
Poison Weapon - This noted thief skill allows them to envenom their weaponry. Poison (weaponname) will envenom your weapon so it will do additional damage. Poison (weaponname) paralyze will envenom your weapon so it will have a chance to immobilize your opponent. Poison wears off with each hit. Level: 30 - Primary Attribute: WIS
Dual Wield - Dual Wield is the ability to use not one, but two weapons at once. Level: 35 - Primary Attribute: STR
Thieves' Critical Strike - The Thief has learned the anatomy of his targets to be better at backstabbing. As the Thief gets more experience, he puts this knowledge to use in every battle situation, and strikes more damage than normal when he makes a critical hit. This is passive and always working. Level: 1 - Primary Attribute: DEX
